The Main Categories And Applications Of Magnetic Materials
Oct 08, 2023
Since the use of natural magnets in nature as a compass, humans have been hoping to manufacture stable and valuable artificially synthesized magnetic materials. Since the 1940s, people have invented ferrite permanent magnet materials, and the field of magnetic materials has been continuously developing and widely used in industrial products.
Magnetic materials can be divided into permanent magnet materials (hard magnets) and soft magnets (soft magnets). Permanent magnet materials mainly include ferrite, samarium cobalt magnets, aluminum nickel cobalt magnets, neodymium iron boron magnets (rare earth permanent magnet materials), and composite permanent magnet materials (such as injection molded ferrite and injection molded neodymium iron boron). Permanent magnet materials undergo processes such as powder metallurgy and injection molding. After magnetization, they are not easily demagnetized and can maintain stable magnetism at working temperature. There are many application fields, mainly including motors, horns, etc.
Soft magnetic materials mainly include silicon steel sheets and flexible ferrite. Due to their low coercivity and high magnetic permeability, they are easy to magnetize and demagnetize, and are widely used in electronic components, sensors, magnetic components, etc.
